Pale yellow green color practically advertises the tastes here : grass, lemon and hints of flowers. Spectacular.

Fantastic sancerre hits all the obligatory notes :grass, cat pee, minerals, lemons and a tangy kick. Just awesome.

High tannins drive this interesting and bold malbec. On the nose there are hints of musty basement and currant, on the tongue it is all dark berry. Low sugar so feel free to pair with a bold meaty dish. A top example of the Argentinian malbec.

I love Riesling but this is a bit too apple-y for me. Still, you can’t go wrong with a German reez.

Probably grown in a lab by genetic splicing of velvet and 1980’s Sade tracks. Nearly nil tannins are the source of the “soft” claims, but leaves this lacking some punch. Regardless, it’s fantastic. Black cherry, with hints of tobacco and musty...

Rich berries with a hint of cinnamon (just a hint, don’t worry) make this a wonderful pinot. Short finish keeps this from a higher score. Medium tannins keep it smoove baby. A lush little delight.

Semi sweet and lightly fizzy, paired well with a mild chicken blt panini, but would drink easily as well solo. Don’t serve it with dessert. Very lively and fun, with honeysuckle and faint apple notes.

Tangy with some citrus but otherwise lacking any real zing. Was served too cold which likely impacted on its flavors.

Potent nose that’s a bit too grassy, this doesn’t have enough fruit to balance the typical NZ sting. Surprisingly off considering the pedigree.

A glass of wine-flavored meh.

Not bad but not memorable. Appeared on a restaurant list under sweet wines, next to a moscato, but it doesn’t belong there. Mild sugar and uninspired fruit work together to underwhelm. Nose is odd, powerful like a glass of cheap rum, but that’s not how it...

Dr. Loosen does it again, proving this producer is the master of Mosel. Medium sweet with a tiny hint of fizz, this is not for the twentysomething wine cooler crowd. This is adult German reez at its best, with apricots and a bit of spice, and a surprisingly long...

Sauvignon Blanc snobs won’t like this, but it’s nevertheless a nice wine. More fruit than mineral, this comes off like a near riesling, with a bit too much sugar for an SB. But it paired very well with a moderately spicy tuna dish.

A slight tinge of photo chemicals ruins it. Unpleasant and nearly foul. At least not oversweet, but neither would be drinking your dad’s old darkroom baths.

Fantastic nose of chocolate and sweet berries will make you think this is a sweet wine, but it’s not. On the tongue it’s black cherry with mild tannins. Only a short finish keeps this from being a five star wine.

An underwhelming nose nevertheless gives way to a lush glass full of flavor. Just let it sit in the glass for at least ten minutes. Black cherry and licorice are prominent here. Paired well with red sauce chicken dish but would hold up well with steak or pork. Let sit...

Nice EssBee that comes close to its superior new Zealand cousins, but not quite as good. Some minerals in play, some grassiness but lacking punch. Pairs well with fish, not much else.

Don’t overlook the “Selection de Grains Nobles” indicator on the label, this is a sweet dessert gwertz, and as a result it doesn’t much match it’s drier brethren. This is all sugar and raisin, with the sweetness nearly hiding the...

OK but most great, gives floral hints on the nose but otherwise a middling glass. Near zero finish. Nice tannins, not overpowering.

Smooth like silk, and boasting some strong fruit but tarnished with a petrol tinge that mars its overall drinkability. Pair this with beef or strong pasta dish or it won’t be fully enjoyable.

Slightly fizzy and very bright, this makes an exciting entrance and shows long legs. Imagine a sexy redhead cabaret dancer. Strong finish of green apple.

Smells like sweet port. Seriously. I thought they poured the wrong wine. On the tongue, though, it’s only slightly sweet but jammy. Zero finish, like a bad date that ends early with someone who couldn’t care less what you think.

Boldly labeled, but dull and disappointing. So basically M. Night Shyamalan in wine form.

A tad too jammy for my tastes but otherwise silky and opulent. A long finish filled with berries this one will please those who like a sweater Italian. Just not my style.

Subtle. This is sweet without being sugary, with an almost creamy texture that leans toward a tokay. Flowers are dominant here and yet it’s not over perfumy. Very nice.
